Welcome to the new Forró Federation website

Today we’re launching a new Forró Federation website — a community-driven home for everyone who loves, dances, plays, teaches, organises, or just discovered this thing called Forró.

What’s new

For the first time, the Federation’s website is built around the community itself, not just the organisation. You’ll find:

  • A new Forró Locations Directory — a community-maintained catalogue of forró scenes across the world, searchable by city and country.
  • A new Forró Directory of artists, teachers, organisers, DJs, and bands — every kind of forrozeir@ doing Forró around the world.
  • An aggregated Forró Events feed — festivals, classes, socials, and tours, all in one place.
  • A native Mapbox-powered map (no more Google My Maps embed) that updates as the community adds new locations.
  • Submission forms at /submit-creator/, /submit-event/, and /submit-project/ — anyone in the community can contribute.
  • Full bilingual support — every page lives in both English and Portuguese.

A new vision: the Federation as a communication hub

The Forró Federation website is now a communication resource for everyone in the Forró community — every musician, teacher, organiser, DJ, and dancer doing Forró around the world.

We’re opening up our other communication channels too: Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, the email newsletter, and more. Some are open to everyone; others will be reserved for paying members once our membership programme opens later this year.

The Federation has always been about connecting forrozeir@s. Now we have the tools to do that at the scale our community deserves.

What you can do today

What’s coming next

Membership is the next big step. We’re building tiers that give paying members exclusive access to the Federation’s WhatsApp, Telegram, and other channels — plus featured listings in the directories and early access to community programmes. Join the newsletter to be the first to know when memberships open.

Thank you to every forrozeir@ who has tested, submitted, broken, fixed, translated, or simply waited patiently while we built this. The Federation belongs to all of us. Let’s keep dancing.
